The trade journal DVZ has presented the LEO Award in the category “Entrepreneur of the Year” to Bernhard Simon, the management spokesman of DACHSER – GRAVELEAU’s parent company since 1999 – and the grandson of Thomas Dachser, who founded the company in 1930.

DACHSER continues its intercontinental development with the creation of a joint venture with the Dutch company Seacon Logistics [350 employees – turnover of EUR 100 million]
Both partners have a 50% holding in the new company, DACHSER Netherlands Air & Sea Logistics B. V., based in Maastricht. While its primary objective, under General Manager Huub Leurs, will be to promote intercontinental air cargo services, it is also tasked with developing sea cargo services.

Opening of a 10th DACHSER office in the United States, at Cincinnati.
DACHSER began operating in the United States in 1970. At the beginning of May, the company opened a 10th office in North America, at Cincinnati.
Situated just under 10 km from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, this new office brings the group’s transport and logistics expertise to the Ohio, Kentucky, southern Indiana and eastern Michigan catchment area. “This launch is an important step towards achieving our objective of being represented at all major air and sea ports in the United States,” says Frank Guenzerodt, national manager of DACHSER USA. “Further offices are scheduled to be opened during the course of 2008 bringing us ever closer to our clients.”
Situated in the Ohio-Indiana-Kentucky triangle, Cincinnati is an attractive economic location, with 60% of the US population within an hour’s plane ride. This new office links the Cincinnati conurbation – population over two million – to the entire DACHSER network, consisting of almost 300 locations worldwide, including 37 in India and 15 in China. At the end of 2007, let us not forget, DACHSER also set up a joint venture with its Russian partner, Intellect Logistics, based in Moscow and known as “OOO DACHSER”.

Official opening, at Mouscron, of a new European platform

On 25 September 2007 in the presence of Bernhard Simon, DACHSER’s management spokesman and grandson of the man who founded it in 1930, Thomas DACHSER, the group inaugurated a brand new logistics platform at Mouscron.
Occupying a 35,000 m2 plot, this state-of-the-art, high-security logistics centre provides 8,800 m2 of warehouse space served by 71 gates and employs 150 people. Costing 6.3 million euros, this investment is a clear indication of DACHSER’s ambitions to develop its operations in Belgium, the country of logistics par excellence, at the crossroads of Germany, France and the Netherlands. It also shows the group’s intention to make this location a key European platform to receive and manage goods flows from its customers both in Belgium and further afield. suite >>

CHINA - DACHSER has opened its first logistics warehouse in Asia at Shanghai and its fifteenth Chinese office at Dongguan.
On 1 July 2007, to meet increasing demand for logistics services, DACHSER opened its first logistics warehouse in Asia, in the district of Boashan, Shanghai.
This new high-security logistics location is equipped with DACHSER’s MIKADO software. It has 3,000 m2 of warehouse space with storage capacity for 3,300 pallets.
At the same time, DACHSER has opened a 15th office in China, at Dongguan, which is situated in one of the country’s most important manufacturing regions, producing goods ranging from toys, shoes and furniture to cameras.

New office opening in China
Dachser’s development in China is carrying on with the opening of their 14th office.
With effect from 14th May 2007, a new Dachser branch opened in Dongguan, in the South of China, as a sales and customer service office.
Eric Cheng, the Branch Manager, and his team work to increase Dachser’s activities in Guangdong area and strengthen their position in this country.

Dachser invests in India, a key market of the future
Dachser and AFL – one of India’s market leaders – set up a joint venture
At the beginning of February, Dachser set up a joint venture with AFL, one of India’s leading logistics companies. The new company is called AFL DACHSER Pvt. Ltd., and the partners each have a 50% stake. The new company has 495 employees in 30 branches and is headquartered in Mumbai.

13th Dachser branch opens in China
On 27 December 2006, Dachser opened its 13th branch in China at Suzhou with the aim of reinforcing and promoting its activities in the Yangtze River delta area.
Asia is considered a strong development axis within the group's Air & Sea Logistics division, which is hoping to treble its sales to more than one billion euros by 2011.

GRAVELEAU rewarded for its GLOBAL RESPONSIBILITY programme
On 31 May this year in Nantes, the company received the "Special Jury Award" conferred within the framework of the "Global Responsibility Trophies". This competition, co-organized by the Nantes European Business School AUDENCIA and the Ecole des Mines de Nantes, in partnership with the Pays de Loire region, was aimed at honouring regional companies that have committed themselves to adopting corporate responsibility measures in the social and environmental fields.
The jury was impressed by the fact that a forwarding company should be so sensitized and committed to promoting the employment of women in this sector, integrating and keeping disabled people in employment and actively reducing greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption.
